Dry spell M13
« on: July 10, 2012, 11:25:29 AM »
Hi guys,

Can't remember going this long without something new to image! I keep kicking this M13 data around just to keep busy. I did get another nights data so I discarded the set taken in bright moon light. It's less time than the previous image but I like it better. It's 3 hours and 38 minutes total exposure with the Mak-Newtonian and T1i.

M13 Globular cluster

In a brighter version you could begin to see the outer spiral structure of NGC 6207 but it was too noisy to use...still pretty cool though.

Thanks for looking
Bob

Hey Bob !!!!!

Glad to see you have been able to , at least, play with existing data.
I am going nuts waiting to continue with my Tulip shot.

That has to be the deepest M13 I have ever seen!!!!!!!
It has to be twice as wide as mine this year and so dense.
Amazingly you kept the color from burning out.
Nicely processed !!!

Thanks a lot fellas!

David (R) and I have often discussed how different an image can look the day after spending several hours on processing. You seem get an immediate impression of what needs to be done to move the image along in the right direction. In this case it was about 10 "days after" and the additional time seemed to help. There's a recent APOD of M13 taken with a PlaneWave 17 that I used as model for the outer limits of the cluster. I think I got pretty close size-wise but not even close in resolution.
