Venus Transit from TN
« on: June 06, 2012, 07:30:14 AM »
T & I went up to Volunteer State Community College and met some folks from the Cumberland Astronomical Society.  We set up the Lunt LS60 and started off with some visuals of the Sun.  A few people came by and wanted to see.  There were several active regions and lots of proms - ole Sol was really putting on a show.  We then hooked up the DMK31 and started streaming - then people started to really flood in - they were fascinated with the "live" view as the transit began.  We wound up capturing over 28Gb of data and are poruing through it right now.  Here is our first result and some pics of the gathering.  It was a ton of fun and we had a blast!

Click to see all of the pics we have (there will be more as we comb through the data)

I knew I could count on you guys for a great shot.  It was all clouded over here.  I was up on the top of my roof trying to get a shot if it came through the clouds.  I missed it completely.  You guys were my only hope and you pulled through.  Thanks!!
Clear Skies,
Chris

A+ well done.  This is what I had wanted to do, and was one of the reasons I was so interested in a solar scope.  Nice shot!

Thanks guys!  We are still going through the data and it looks like we will have all the components to assemble a time-lapse video!!  Hopefully have that completed real soon!!
