The Rosette Nebula 2012
This is a DSLR\CCD combo..2 hours through a Lumicon Deepsky filter/dslr (4m x 30) + 2 hours Orion CCD (5m x 24)
Stacked in Deepskystacker, processed in PSE8/Carbonis/Nebulosity.
Orion ED80T CF
Celestron CGEM
Orion mini guidescope/DSCI 1
Guided with PHD
Wiki: The cluster and nebula lie at a distance of some 5,200 light-years from Earth (although estimates of the distance vary considerably, down to 4,900 light-years.[3]) and measure roughly 130 light years in diameter. The radiation from the young stars excite the atoms in the nebula, causing them to emit radiation themselves producing the emission nebula we see. The mass of the nebula is estimated to be around 10,000 solar masses.
It is believed that stellar winds from a group of O and B stars are exerting pressure on interstellar clouds to cause compression, followed by star formation in the nebula. This star formation is currently still ongoing.

Looks Super. Nice job on this one. Great detail and depth.
You might try balancing the background. It looks to have a little red in it. You can set the black point to 20,20,20 and click on a black area to see the difference.
Keep 'em coming!

Actually, it looks a little blue now. I took it into Photoshop to verify. Try the levels black point tool...
Keep in mind, this is a very minor detail. The image really looks great.

Nice one Darrell, I like the second one a little better. It can be tough I know to balance an image, especially after looking at it for a while, you no longer see certain things

Very nice indeed. Color balance is indeed a though job sometimes, especially if you are colorblind like myself. I can only go by the histgram/image info.
