Astronomy POD
«
on:

We had one heck of a dust storm yesterday (first of the season). The dust was so thick it was possible to see sunspots with your naked eye. I shot a couple photos
HERE
. I also submitted it to Astronomy magazine where it is currently
POD
.
It's a bit calmer today.

Way cool! I don't know if that's been imaged under such circumstances before? Good deal to quickly grab the cam, great capture!

Nice! But didn't your mom ever tell you that you'll go blind if you look directly at the sun ...

Thanks everyone... I love those days and I hate those days. Since its been a very dry couple years, I'm sure I'll have another opportunity at this.
@ Jason: I was looking at Spaceweather.com and someone, a hundred miles up the road, shot a similar shot. I missed the opportunity to get the scope connected, but was a little worried about the conditions and the lack of any protection over the optics. Next time, I'll do a little planning and shoot from the back seat, out the rear hatch. That should offer some protection.
@ Derek: Naw, Mom never told me that. She knew that's exactly what I would do... "Little Eric, don't stick things into the plug socket" Guess that's why I've always liked Lightning.
