Mystery Object in Ha
«
on:
January 23, 2012, 09:45:48 PM »
What is it?
It's my latest mystery target. This is 7.5 hours of Ha, shot over 2 nights. I'm planning to add more, NB and RGB, as time and weather permit. Another rarely imaged target.
No cheating by plate-solving or using any similar means...
Good Luck...

Here's a hint. Mike's already got the answer.
Another hint: It's in Orion

@ Greg : Great guess, but no...
- You're on the right track though.
@ Chris : Another good guess - I can see why you suggested that. - Greg's on the right track.

You got it...
Officially Mike wins, but he's been looking through a Bernard book and didn't want to spoil the fun..
Pretty interesting area, but dim and needing of a lot of time. Even with 7.5 hours of Ha, it could certainly use more time.

took me a minute to find the aligator, but I found him! he's turning his head arching his body slightly with a stuby arm extended as to push him in that direction.
So this is the extreme south western area of the loop, below Rigel?

No, actually it's a ways above Bellatrix. Again, tough to find and frame, due to its faint nature. But I think it was worth the time.
