Back in my Corporate Engineering life, The VP of manufacturing was pressuring me to get my team to complete our third manufacturing facility in the Dominican Republic. The other 2 plants that I had constructed had made the Corporation about $80 million in tax savings. So I told relayed my plan for continued support of the project and mentioned (with a straight face) that I'd complete it a month earlier, if they would pay me 1 month's worth of savings. I'd never proposed anything like this to him before. He gave me a double-take, chuckled and walked-off...
Never hurts to ask, though.
