M95
« on: April 09, 2011, 02:18:20 PM »
Hi guys,

Shot M95 when I was at Coyle on Mar 27 - mag 10.6; size 7.1 x 4.3'.
Scope: LX200 10" at f/3.3
Camera: Canon 20Da; ISO 1600; IDAS filter
Exp: 30-min (60x30s)

Have been trying to raise the background more than I usually do. What do you think?

Hi John,

There's a lot of detail in there...  A great looking image.

How much of a crop is this?  I'm curious of the FOV of your combo, at f3.3.

Thanks guys,

Eric, I crop the center 3rd of the FOV, about 26' for my 10.

Bruce, you can use a 3.3 focal reducer (Meade and Celestron both make them) but your focus rolls off beyond the center 3rd of the FOV. But 26' covers a lot of tiny objects out there.

And here is M96, the last object I shot that night - Magnitude 10.1B, Size 7.6 x 5.0'.  Exp 30-min (60x30s subs) setup the same as above.  This will be a good one to shoot with my mew Canon 550D T2i next time out. I would like to see if I can capture more of the surrounding halo at ISO 3200 & 6400. Will be interesting.

I maybe mistaken but I believe you can't use your Televue FR. The Meade & Celestron ones screw into the back of the SCT. I think your spacing maybe off and could be why you may not be able to use it.
If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will correct me.
