HaRGB Horsehead and Flame
« on: March 09, 2011, 11:53:25 PM »
I took my Ha data and added it together with my old RGB from my 400D here , not the best RGB data but it seemed to work ok.

I combined it using the Starizona #2 method and then tweaked it a little but I dont think this was the best way and since the RGB data isnt the cleanest it brought it a bit of noise and the bloated stars gave some halos.

If I get a chance this season ill shoot some proper RGB data but who knows with this weather.

18  10min subs ISO 1600 with 6nm Ha filter and 10  5min subs of RGB taken with the 400D , stacked in DSS then adjusted in PS CS2. Canon 500D(modded) , Orion Atlas mount and the scope is a Orion ED80 refractor with .8 FR and with a 7x40mm finder as a guide scope.

Hey Erik, looks great to me. Have you tried processing the RGB before combining? You could sharpen and smooth background then combine it.

Thanks very much John , Jason , Eric

John - The RGB was fully processed but the method #2 blurs most of that data and uses it as just color.
